St Michael in the Hamlet is a very special community school with happy children and a talented staff team. We work together to ensure all our children are nurtured and challenged.
We are two form entry with our own Nursery, Breakfast Club and After School Club - the Haven. We can provide wrap around care from 7.45- 5.45 during term time.
Our curriculum gives our children the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life and to develop and discover their interests and talents as unique individuals. Our approach also supports character development and teaches children how to keep physically and mentally healthy – including developing their resilience, confidence and independence.
We are very fortunate to have lots of green space including a Wild Garden, and each class has a weekly Outdoor Learning session led by a Forest Schools practitioner.
We are a Rights Respecting School and our children learn what it means to be part of a community and how to care for each other and our environment. Many of our children take on active roles to share their passion and help others - Eco Team, School Council and Playground Buddies.
We have an active PTFA who work hard to organise social and fund raising events. All funds are fed back into school to benefit your child so please get involved and feel part of the team.
St Michael in the Hamlet is very inclusive. We have our Rainbow Base to support children with ASD, and nurture provision for children who may need some time out of mainstream class. We have a dedicated member of staff who supports our Looked After and adopted children and we employ our own children’s counsellor. All our staff are skilled and experienced in supporting a range of needs including Autism-friendly and Trauma and Attachment-aware practices.
We hope that you choose St Michael in the Hamlet for your child and we look forward to sharing their primary school journey with you.
