St. Michael in the Hamlet - Nursery Newsletter - September 2019
Welcome to Nursery!
We hope you all had a lovely summer and are ready for lots of fun and learning with us this term. You may have noticed that our classroom has had a makeover if you attended last year. We have tried to create a calm environment based on the ocean. To fit in with this, our class is named the ‘Turtles’.
The adults in our Nursery are Miss Bentham, Mrs Payne and Mrs Fortune. Please feel free to speak to us at the beginning or end of the session. We are very friendly! If you’d like to speak about something more important or which will take longer to discuss, then please ask to make an appointment.
We will be having a visitor, Auntie Veronica, joining us on Wednesday and Thursday each week to read with some of our children. She is looking forward to bringing some new and exciting stories to our classroom!
This term our topic is ‘All Together Now’. We will be teaching the children all about our EYFS motto: ‘Kindness, Community, Respect’. This will involve settling children in, listening and playing with others, sharing our toys and working together.
We are very keen to promote independence in our children and would be grateful if every child could be dressed in clothes that allow them to access the toilets independently, e.g. elasticated jogging bottoms. Please can children wear shoes which they can fasten themselves.
There are some forms that need to be filled in when your child first starts nursery. There is an ‘Initial Discussion’ form to be completed and a data form which will be given to you which will include contact details etc. and the office staff will need to see a copy of your child’s Birth certificate if you have not yet brought that in to school. Please ask us for a copy if you have not yet filled any of these out.
For those children staying for lunch, please can we ask they bring a healthy and well balanced packed lunch with them.
At the start of each day you will be asked to sign your child into nursery and to state who is picking them up at the end of the session. Children will only be released to the person named that morning. If that changes during the morning could you please telephone school to let us know who the new person will be.
This term we will have a Stay and Play session for parents. This will be an opportunity to join in with the nursery and chat to the staff about your child. The date for this is: Wednesday 23rd October - Morning children 8.45 – 9.45 a.m. All day children 1:45pm-2:45pm.
Thank you! Miss Bentham, Mrs Payne & Mrs Fortune
