St. Michael in the Hamlet - Nursery Newsletter - November 2019
We hope you’ve had a great start to the new Autumn term! We can’t wait for all of the exciting events coming up in Nursery and as part of the wider school.
This term our topic in EYFS is ‘Carnival’. We will be reading stories and learning about different kinds of celebrations that people take part in including Diwali, Christmas and our Harvest Festival which took place last half term. As part of this, we would like to invite you to a special carnival we will be holding in Nursery.
29th November 9am-9:30am – Carnival show for all nursery children. Please note, Reception will not be involved in this morning show. They will be holding their own carnival on the previous day.
We kindly ask that children attend school in their own clothes on this day and if possible, wear something bright in colour. We will be creating our own carnival headwear as part of our creative arts and design. We would also like to politely ask for a small donation, if you’re able to, which will all go towards cooking ingredients and other resources for Nursery.
Just a reminder that we are very keen to promote independence in our children and would be grateful if every child could be dressed in clothes that allow them to access the toilets independently e.g. elasticated jogging bottoms. Please can children wear shoes which they can fasten themselves, so if possible, not laced up.
Now that children are settled, we are trying to promote more writing in class. It would be great if you could encourage your child to take their name tag from their peg and try copying their name onto one of the large pieces of paper on the writing table when they arrive in the morning.
The Christmas Show will be on Monday 16th December and Tuesday 17th December. Our Nursery will be performing a song called ‘Little Snowflakes’ at the very beginning of the show. We would like to ask if children could wear something white, blue or sparkly for this to fit in with the snowflake theme. Thanks so much for your co-operation!
This term we will have another Stay and Play session for parents where you can take part in some Christmas crafts with your child. This will also be an opportunity to chat to the staff about your child. The date for this is: Wednesday 11th December at 8:45am-9:45am.
The last day of term will be 19th December for Nursery, as the final day will be reserved for new children who are starting after Christmas to experience a taster session.
Thank you! Miss Bentham, Mrs Payne & Mrs Fortune
