Year 6 Permewan Awards Evening
On Friday 13th July, we held our annual Permewan Awards evening for Year 6. The Permewan award is traditionally the highest accolade given to pupils at St. Michael in the Hamlet Primary.
The Permewan Award was first presented in 1928 by Mrs. Permewan in memory of her husband, Dr. Permewan and their daughter. A sum of money was invested and the interest from that was originally used to purchase gold watches for the children who best lived up to the Permewan Pledge. Today the award winners each receive an individually engraved commemorative plaque.
The award is given to pupils who put others before themselves; who are consistently well behaved and well mannered and who reach their potential and work hard.
Children are nominated and voted for by pupils and staff.
Also this year, awards were given in memory of Mrs. Nadine Gardner for English achievement and Mr. Barry Aldridge for achievement in Maths.
Awards were also given for overall outstanding contribution to sport: -
Well done to all!
