Key Focus: Eggs and Growth

Eggs and Growth

During the second half of the spring term we focus on living things, both plants and animals. We learn about how they grow and change, and how to take care of them and our environment. We will do this through lots of practical activities. Please make sure your child has a warm coat and sensible shoes or wellies so they can explore outside happily. We will learn about how a healthy diet and physical exercise are important for our own health. In common with the rest of school, we will also investigate ways of building our emotional health too.

We are working towards to Early Learning Goal for The World:

“Children know about similarities and differences in relation to places, objects, materials and living things. They talk about the features of their own immediate environment and how environments might vary from one another. They make observations of animals and plants and explain why some things occur, and talk about changes’

If you have any photographs of different environments from your travels we would love to see them so we can compare and contrast them with the environments we see around us in Liverpool. We are very lucky to have access to our wonderful Wild Garden. Look out for notices highlighting Family Forest School sessions.

Other ways you can find out more about supporting your child’s learning:

The website has lots of useful ideas and there is even a downloadable app for more ideas when you are out and about. One of their video clips explains why exploratory play is so important

More fantastic ideas for science fun can be found on ExpeRimental:

The resources section of all about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is also useful

Don’t forget that the Liverpool Museums have family friendly activities for free too:

We will be holding progress meetings after school on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21stMarch, and will send home slips for you to book your time. There will also be some daytime appointments available, we will let you know the details of these as soon as we know them.
