Year 6 at a Glance

Good communication is an essential part of your child’s happiness and progress in Year 6. If you have any queries or worries, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are normally on the playground in the morning and at home time and we welcome any feedback from parents. Alternatively, you can make an appointment to speak to your class teacher via the main junior office.

Important Dates: This half term, Year 6 children are taking part in a fantastic dance project in collaboration with Liverpool John Moore’s University. You will be invited to the performance which will take place in Sudley Theatre at IM Marsh on Thursday 6th April at 6.30pm. The performance will last for approximately 1 hour. You will receive a letter very soon about tickets. Tickets are free but a small donation towards the cost of the transport would be greatly appreciated.

Year 6 Staff are: Mr Backstrom, Ms Millican and Miss Ambrose

Our PE kit is: A white T-shirt, black shorts and a pair of pumps. Trainers are also allowed for outdoor sports. We have a ‘no jewellery’ policy in the school and all pierced earrings will need to be removed. Please make sure that P.E. kits are in a bag and all items are clearly named.

We have PE on: Monday afternoon.

We have Spanish on: Thursday

Home Reading: Children have the opportunity to use books from school OR home and their progress can be recorded in their Home Reading Record Book. The reading record will be monitored in school each week. In addition, electronic reading books will be set weekly or fortnightly. These are wonderful interactive books with built-in activities about the text. Just log on, read the book and click on the bugs to answer the questions.

Homework: Spellings will be sent home weekly. We set regular English and Maths homework on our Active Learn Website. If you have lost your login details, please see staff or ask your child to copy them down from the homework sheet displayed in class.
