Welcome to Year 4!

A warm welcome from all the staff in Year 4! We hope you had a lovely Christmas break. We have a full, fun-packed year prepared and are looking forward to sharing with you the work your children will produce.

If you have any queries or worries, contact us via the Junior Office. Please inform us if your child is being picked up by an adult at the end of the school day who is not on the list.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Jones, Mrs Burch and Miss Clements

Year 4 Curriculum Map: "Beyond The Wardrobe"

English: Last week the children loved our new topic launch – Beyond the Wardrobe. Throughout this term we will be using The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe text to develop their comprehension skills, leading on to them writing their own poetry and fantasy stories. To support their writing all children have been allocated grammar activities in their active learn homework accounts. Please encourage your child to have a go.

Maths: Our main focus in maths is consolidating and developing the children’s understanding and application of the four operations (+. -. X. ÷). Any active learn homework you can do with your child will really help further their progression. We will continue with our times tables tests so please keep practising with your child.

Topic: Our topic, ‘Beyond the Wardrobe’, has strong links to geography, art, DT, science and RE . Science – Dangers to living things including food chains; Geography- environmental issues e.g. global warming; Art – observational drawing, collage and printing; DT – designing and making a 3D package RE – worship across the six main religions. We would love the children to do a project based on our topic. Be as creative as you can! We will share projects week beginning 19th March so please make sure they are in by then.
