Minibeasts and Habitats

Personal, Social and Emotional Development: We are introducing Philosophy for Children and thinking about whether it would be better to have nursery in the park. This helps us to learn different people like different things.

Physical Development: We use one-handed tools and equipment. We run skilfully and negotiate space successfully, adjusting speed or direction to avoid obstacles.

Communication and Language: We are beginning to use more complex sentences to link thoughts, eg using ‘and’ and ‘because’. We use talk to connect ideas, explain what is happening and anticipate what might happen recall and relive past experiences.

Expressive Arts and Design: We use available resources to create props for role play. We construct, stacking blocks, vertically and horizontally, making enclosures and creating spaces.

Understanding the World: We know some of the things that make us unique and talk about some of the similarities and differences in relation to families and friends.

Literacy: We know that information can be relayed in the form of print. We show interest in illustrations and print in books. We look at books independently and recognise familiar words (especially our name) and signs.

Mathematical Development: We use positional language to talk about what we see and explain when something is, in relation to other things. We show interest in shape by sustained construction activity. We match numerals and quantities correctly, and represent numbers using fingers, marks on paper and pictures.
