Year 1 Newsletter June 2017
Our creative curriculum topic for next half term is ‘Up, Up and Away! Please see overleaf for our curriculum map to find out all about the exciting things we will be doing this half term.
This term our PE sessions are Fridays. The children should have a white T-shirt, black/navy shorts and a pair of pumps (football kits are not allowed) Please make sure that PE kits are in a bag and all items are clearly named. (Just a reminder that our school policy clearly states no jewellery, for safety reasons).
We want to continue to encourage all our children to enjoy and engage with books and reading and we ask you to continue to support this process. Our home reading scheme is devised to encourage your child to read independently, with fluency, to build their confidence and self-esteem. If your child has a lot of difficulty reading their book and is unable to tell you about it, please let us know. Children have the opportunity to use books from school OR home and their progress needs to be recorded in their Home Reading Record Book. The reading record will continue to be monitored in school each week. Please return these, with your child’s reading book every Tuesday and Friday.
Thank you for all your support with the Spelling and Maths homework. Please continue to support your child each week with this. We will continue to add different games for the children to access for their maths and literacy online homework. We will continue to monitor this each week.
Miss Tsai (1T), Miss Powell (1P), Ms Harker (1T), Ms Hammond (1P), Mrs Roberts (1P/1T) and Mrs Owen (Forest School) continue to work closely together throughout Year 1 ensuring that all children are offered the opportunities to access a wide and varied curriculum.
