Year 1 Newsletter: Summer 1, 2018
We hope you had a enjoyable Easter break, read on to find out
about all the exciting things that will be happening this term.
Our creative curriculum topic for next half term is ‘Gardener’s World’ Please see overleaf for our curriculum map to find out all about the exciting things we will be doing this half term.
This term our PE sessions are Thursdays. The children should have a white T-shirt, black/navy shorts and a pair of pumps (football kits are not allowed) Please make sure that PE kits are in a bag and all items are clearly named. (Just a reminder that our school policy clearly states no jewellery, for safety reasons).
We want to continue to encourage all our children to enjoy and engage with books and reading and we ask you to continue to support this process. Our home reading scheme is devised to encourage your child to read independently, with fluency, to build their confidence and self-esteem. If your child has a lot of difficulty reading their book and is unable to tell you about it, please let us know. Children have the opportunity to use books from school OR home and their progress needs to be recorded in their Home Reading Record Book. The reading record will continue to be monitored in school each week. Please return these, with your child’s reading book every Tuesday and Friday.
Thank you for all your support with the Spelling homework. Please continue to support your child each week with this, spelling test will be on Friday’s. We will continue to add different games and books for the children to access for their maths and literacy online homework (Active Learn). We also now have paper Maths homework available for you to collect from the infant office, this will be refreshed every couple of weeks and will consolidate their Maths learning we are doing in class.
