Year 4

Welcome Back – Summer Term

We hope that you had a relaxing Easter holiday and are looking forward to a busy eventful Summer Term! If you haven’t done so already, please take a look at our Year 4 class page on the school website. It contains a huge amount of information relevant to what your child is doing in school, including videos, photographs, animations, information regarding homework and the Year 4 newsletters.

From our discussions at Parents’ Evening, it was apparent that the children had shared their enthusiasm regarding our connected curriculum topic. Throughout this week, their graffiti spelling animations will be uploaded under the heading ‘Spring 2’ alongside photographs of the Year 4 displays of their graffiti spellings. A more in-depth look at the Banksy artwork used as a stimulus for our P4C and Rights Respect Responsibility work can be found under the RRSA link (on the home page of the school’s website). Making connections between Philosophy for Children (P4C), The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and real-life maths is one of our school priorities this year; the work displayed under the ‘RRSA’ link will enable you to further develop this work with your child.

Our website is easy to navigate; once you have loaded up the school website, click on ‘RRSA’ to see our Banksy artwork stimulus or ‘Children’ then ‘Class Pages’ to access the Year 4 information. You will then see ‘At a Glance’ and ‘Topic Web’.

Year 4 at a glance

Contains all the relevant information for Summer Term, with key information days and dates.

Year 4 Topic Web

Explains the Year 4 Summer Term topic as well as what we will be focussing on within our core subjects. Homework information is also provided here.

Reading at Home

Please encourage your child to read at home regularly. They have the opportunity to choose books from school OR home as well as interacting with books online via our exciting ‘Bug Club’. Their progress needs to be recorded in their Home Reading Record Book and this will be monitored in school.

Communication

If you have any queries or worries, contact us via the Junior Office. Please inform us if your child is being picked up by an adult at the end of the school day who is not on the list.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Jones & Miss Bentham
