St. Michael in the Hamlet Nursery Newsletter
Spring 2, 2018.
Welcome back to nursery! Our new children are settling in well and quickly becoming part of the family. Just to remind you we have four keyworker groups in the nursery; Dolphins, Turtles, Foxes and Parrots. Please feel free to speak to your child’s keyworker at the beginning or end of the session.
Following on from our very successful mini topic of the Doctor’s Surgery, we are extending our role play provision to include all of the Emergency Services. If you have any books or resources that you think might be helpful please do send them in to school.
As part of our ‘Talking for Writing’ initiative we are studying ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and would greatly appreciate any photographs, pictures, books or other resources that might complement this topic. The children love to show their friends things that they have been doing at home.
We are still encouraging our children to be as independent as possible by fastening their coats and being responsible for their own possessions. We would be grateful if you would ensure that all hats, scarves and gloves are clearly named.
As you may be aware we have recently been developing our outdoor space which now includes a water exploring area. It has also become very muddy outside on our grassy hill and I would encourage all parents to consider this when sending their child in each day, wellies and appropriate clothing would be much appreciated.
Thank you to all of our parents who remember daily to help their child to write their name. We will continue to practise this skill as our children are expected to be able to write at least their first name when they enter their Reception year.
This term Stay and Play will be on Tuesday 20th March 2018 for Turtles and Dolphins and Wednesday 21st March for Parrots and Foxes. It is a great opportunity for parents to speak with staff about their children. We can discuss progress and any concerns you may have.
Morning children 9 – 10 a.m.
Afternoon children 12.30 – 1.30.p.m
All day children are welcome to choose which session best suits them.
