P4C: Child or Adult?

Philosophy for Children: Child or Adult?

At the end of our ‘Eggs and Growth’ topic, we thought about whether we would rather be a child or an adult and why.

Our thoughts will make you smile:

  • I would like to be a grown-up because they help. They can write and draw really easily.

  • I would prefer to be a child, because I like playing with my friends on the slide and the tyres. I think it’s boring to be a grown-up. They have to drive cars and pay money.

  • I’d prefer to be a child because I like to play monsters with my daddy.

  • I’d prefer to be an adult because I want to stay up all night and drive a car and sing lullabies to my children.

  • I’d prefer to be a child because I like playing and my mum has to work and cook the tea.

  • I’d prefer to be a grown-up because I want to drive cars. I would like to be in charge.
  • I would rather be a child, because I can play basketball with my friends. Grown-ups have to go to work!

  • I’d prefer to be a child because I like going on bouncy castles with my sister and my friends.

  • I would rather be a child because I like being a child with my mummy at bedtime. My mummy puts lullabies on for me.

  • I prefer to be a child because they play games. I play with my cousins at ‘Mummies and daddies’ and ‘Kings’. But grown-ups have to do work at home on their computers.

  • I would rather be an adult because I want to drive cars.

  • I would be an adult so that I can look after babies and children while their mummies go to a meeting.

  • I would prefer to be a child because I want to drive a toy car with a remote control. I would like to be a grown-up too; then I can drive an adult car.

  • I would rather be an child because I can go to school and play with my friends. My friends can come to my house to play too.

  • I would rather be a child because I like living with my family. I like going to school and playing ‘Harry Potter’ with my friends. Grown-ups have to go to work and I don’t want to do that.

  • I’d like to be an adult so that I can drive a car and go into space to meet an alien! And my mum and dad won’t be able to tell me what to do!

  • I’d like to be a child because grown-ups have to do all the hard work and make the breakfast. My mum has to leave very early for work to beat the traffic. I like going to school because you learn lots.

  • I’d prefer to be a child because my daddy plays with me. My mummy has to do boring work. I like building stuff with Lego. Mum and dad go to bed because they are tired.

  • I want to be both! I enjoy going to school. When I’m an adult I want to get lots of money. I will do a job to earn lots of money. I want to be a rockstar! When you are a kid you get pocket money and you can buy sweets once a week.

  • I’d like to be a child because I can play with my friends and have fun at school. My mama always says her work is boring!

  • I’d like to be both. I like having pocket money and spending time with friends. I like to play and go to parties and play party games and go on bouncy castles. When I grow I could be a teacher. Then I can give stickers to the children. Also I can have a ‘phone and play games on ‘phones.

  • I’d prefer to be a child because you don’t have to do work, and you get to play in school and at home. Adults have to do the cooking at home and they have to go to work to earn money.

  • I’d prefer to be a child. Children can go on bouncy castles. Grown-ups drive cars and sometimes they have to go to the shops.

  • I would prefer to be a child because I get to play lots of fun games. Also I get to have surprises. Sometimes my mummy buys me toys. When you are a grown-up you can drive and decide where you go and you can buy any pet you want.

  • I’d prefer to be a child because you get to play instead of just doing boring jobs!

  • I’d rather be a grown-up because I could buy a big packet of sweeties. I would like to be a builder!

  • I think it’s better to be a grown-up because you can do what you want. You can go on a trampoline, drive a car and earn money. I will buy some big marshmallows. When you are a kid you can play in the snow and you don’t have to go to work.

  • I’d prefer to be a child because you can play outside whenever you want. You can Play with your toys. Grown-ups have to cook the tea, and earn some money to go on holiday.
