St. Michael in the Hamlet Nursery Newsletter

Spring 2018.

A big, warm welcome to all the new children who have joined us this term! We hope your time with us will be a happy one. Just to remind you we have four keyworker groups in the nursery; Dolphins, Turtles, Foxes and Parrots. Please feel free to speak to your child’s keyworker at the beginning or end of the session.

Many thanks to everyone for signing their child in at the beginning of each session. As you know we ask you to indicate who will pick your child up at the end of the session. If anything changes during that session and the designated person is no longer able to collect your child could you please telephone the office to let us know the name of the new adult who will pick your child up.

One of our mini topics is The Doctor’s Surgery. If you have any books or resources that you think might be helpful please do send them in to school. We already have a pair of crutches and a walking stick from one parent!

As part of our ‘Talking for Writing’ initiative we are studying the Norwegian Tale of ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff.’ We are currently enjoying retelling the story using small world resources and plan to look at Bridges and Norway during this term. It would be lovely to make some simple tabard style costumes for the three goats and we would appreciate donations of an spare furry material you may have at home or sewing skills you could tell us about!

We are still encouraging our children to be as independent as possible by fastening their coats and being responsible for their own possessions. We would be grateful if you would ensure that all hats, scarves and gloves are clearly named. Can I kindly ask parents to leave toys at home as we are worried that they could get lost or damaged?

During the cold weather we will continue to play outside but for a shorter period of time so please do send your child’s wellies in with them and a suitable coat. It would be very helpful if your child could attend nursery with suitable shoes that do not have laces.

This term Stay and Play will be on Wednesday 7th February 2018 and Thursday 8th February. It is a great opportunity for parents to speak with staff about their children. We can discuss progress and any concerns you may have.

Morning children 9 – 10 a.m.

Afternoon children 12.30 – 1.30.p.m

All day children are welcome to choose which session best suits them.
