Maths Parent Meeting Update
Autumn 1 2017
Thank you so much for attending the Year 1, 2, 3 & 4 parent meetings regarding maths at our school. Your feedback has been invaluable & it was wonderful to see so many of you & to read such positive responses:
“ I found the positive language tip really useful.”
“I enjoyed this session a lot. It helped me understand more about how to help my boys with their maths homework.”
Regarding homework, many parents have requested a balance between the online Active Learn homework games and worksheets. We have listened to your ideas & we will be developing an area in each foyer, next half term, where you will be able to pick up some maths worksheets to enjoy at home with your child.
We will also be running a homework club for 15-20 minutes during lunch time for those children who are struggling to access the Active Learn website at home. If you would like your child to access this provision, please speak to Miss Powell (Key Stage 1) or Ms Millican (Key Stage 2). If we have a lot of pupils needing to access the club, we will run it in blocks for each year group.
After our conversations with you, we thought that it would be useful to run some drop-in parent sessions in one of our classrooms to demonstrate some of the national curriculum changes in calculation methods.
Watch out for letters that will give more detail about this & homework club, next half term.
Looking forward to seeing you again very soon!
Upcoming date: Maths meeting for Y5 & Y6 parents- Thursday 2nd November at 3.30pm in the Junior Hall.
