St. Michael in the Hamlet Nursery Autumn1 2017.
Key Focus: Our Key Focus is helping children settle into nursery.
Topic: ‘All About Me!’
A big warm welcome to all of the new children who have joined us this year! We hope your time with us will be a happy one. Just to let you we have four keyworker groups in the nursery, Dolphins, Turtles, Foxes and Parrots. Please feel free to speak to your child’s keyworker at the beginning or end of the session.
This term our topic is ‘All About Me!’ This will give us lots of opportunities to get to know each other. We will be spending plenty of time helping the children to feel as settled and relaxed as possible. This may be a quick process for some children but others take a little longer. Please do not be anxious about this as all children are different and the staff are very patient and kind.
We are very keen to promote independence in our children and would be grateful if every child could be dressed in clothes that allow them to access the toilets independently, eg elasticated jogging bottoms. Can I also make an appeal for shoes that children can put on themselves? We hope at times to go to the hall to do P.E. and laces are a problem.
As those of you who attended our ‘Taster Session’ at the end of last term will know there are some forms that need to be filled in when your child first starts nursery. There is an ‘Initial Discussion’ form to be completed with a member of staff which will help us to get a clearer picture of your child’s family and home life. A data form will be given to you that will include contact details etc. and the office staff will need to see a copy of your child’s Birth certificate if you have not yet brought that in to school.
At the start of each day you will be asked to sign your child into nursery and to state who is picking your child up at the end of the session. Children will only be released to the person named that day. So if that changes during the day could you please telephone school to let us know who the new person will be.
This term we will have a Stay and Play sessions for parents. This will be an opportunity to join in with the nursery and chat to the keyworkers about your child. The date for this is:
Wednesday 18th October: Morning children 8.45 – 9.45 a.m.
Afternoon children 12.30 – 1.30.p.m.
All day children are welcome to choose which session best suits them.
