Autumn 2 Newsletter
We are continuing our Creative Curriculum topic for this term ‘Heroes and Villains’. We will be researching Anglo Saxons and Vikings as well as exploring forces in science. In English we will be studying the legend Beowulf as adapted by Michael Morpurgo.
We have P.E on Wednesday. The children should have a white T-shirt, black/ navy shorts and a pair of pumps (football kits are not allowed). Trainers can also be included for outdoor sports. Please make sure that PE kits are in a bag and all items are clearly named. (Just a reminder that our school policy clearly states no jewellery, for safety reasons) If your child cannot remove their earrings please make sure they are covered with a plaster on these days. We will be swimming this term, you have already received a letter with all the details.
We want to encourage all our children to enjoy and engage with books and reading and we ask you to support this process through our Home Reading Scheme. Children have the opportunity to use books from school OR home and their progress needs to be recorded in their Home Reading Record Book. The reading record will be monitored in school each week so we will need Reading Record Books to be returned to school every Monday. Books will be changed at least once a week.
Completed projects need to be in school no later than Friday 9th December. Please encourage your child to bring one in if they haven’t done so already.
Spelling and Times tables
Every Monday your child will be given a list of spellings to learn throughout the week and they will be tested on the following Monday. Every Friday your child will be given a times table to learn for a test the following Friday. We encourage you to work with your children to learn these words and tables.
